On September 23rd 2023, a team of 10 took on an incredible inflatable 5k to raise funds for Sue Lambert Trust.

Ever ran a 5k? How about with the added challenge of jumping through 32 inflatable obstacles? That’s how a team of 10 fundraisers spent their Saturday morning last month.

The team included Clive (CEO of the charity), Anna (Fundraising Officer), Sarah (Business and Operations Manager), Tom and Kate (Finance Manager and his Fiancée) Hannah (Plain Speaking PR) Kim Graham and Darrell (SLT Counsellor and her son) Toni (Niece in Law of Sue Lambert) and Simon (An SLT Counsellors’ husband).

At the start, they came together for  a team talk where event organisers explained that they would be taking on 16 obstacles per lap, and complete the course twice to cover 5k.

Anna’s son Brandon (age 6) decided it looked like a lot of fun and was a last minute addition to the team,  joining in with the first lap and running2.5k alongside the team. With a mix of nerves and excitement,a few moments later they set off.

The team had slid down the first inflatable slide at the start and then  made their way through the course. Each obstacle presented new challenges,  including ‘the crawler’ with tunnels for the team to crawl through, ‘bish bash’ with inflatable punch bag style pillars, ‘the web’ which entangled and tripped up many of the team, and ‘swing shot’ where you had to take a leap of faith across a pit using a hanging rope.. After completing a second lap the team reached their final obstacle – called ‘the boss’ – a supersized inflatable obstacle. A steep climb, facing some bish bash style inflatable pillars, over a very high spiky beam and onto the final climb they got to slide their way down to the finish line.

It was a great accomplishment by the team who were relieved to make it to the end!

Collectively they raised £2145 (to date – sponsorship page open until 31st October)

On the day, our counsellor Nicci and her son also took the challenge, going event further and completing the 10k course. They raised £385 in sponsorship, taking the inflatable total to over £2,500!

If you’d like to give their final total a boost before the end of October, please donate via their Just Giving page. Thank you.

And if you think you’d like to take on an inflatable 5k or even 10k next year then please get in touch with us!

All money raised by the team enables Sue Lambert Trust to continue supporting people in Norfolk who have experienced sexual abuse and sexual violence through free, professional therapeutic counselling and other services.
