Here's Marks September update about his training and preparation over the last month and in the final days counting down to the big day!

29th September 2022

Hi everyone,

First and foremost thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far on this journey to London Marathon 2022. I know how times are tough for us all at the moment. I’m very humbled by all your support.

So onto the blog, I’m writing this on my way to London Excel to collect my race pack. Unlike other races you have to attend in person or get someone to collect it for you. Sitting here reflecting on the train it seems to have been another lifetime that I started training. As the leaves start to turn on the trees and morning runs have become autumnal I’m thinking back to getting up at 5am to miss the heatwave on my runs. Thankfully much down to Chas Allen from Walk to Run patching up my various injuries, I’m going to hit the start line in reasonable shape.

The few last long runs were hard work but made much easier by my fantastic clubmates from Norfolk Gazelles especially those who joined me for my last 18 mile run – You can see them in the picture!

Last week and this week are quite hard as the mileage has drastically reduced . I had to tell myself to slow down yesterday and go home, it’s been a long while since I’ve done that ! It’s literally one more run tomorrow then Sunday for the 26.2 mile celebration. After that, a few beers and a holiday!!

Thanks again for all of your support and only a matter of hours to go before I’ll be on the starting line ready to run both for myself and in support of the Sue Lambert Trust. You can read more about my story and donate to help me reach my pledge on my Just Giving page: Marks Marathon 2022
