Learn how Kelly and the Resilience team are working together to build strength, connection, and awareness through outreach and peer support.

What is Resilience and Outreach?

The aim of our Resilience Programme is to strengthen to resilience of our clients. We achieve this by gaining insight into the needs of marginalised communities and establishing more informed, dynamic and accessible provision to meet these needs and encourage growth, as well as delivering a range of co-produced peer support groups.

What does it involve?

Our Outreach work involves working with communities to promote education around sexual abuse and sexual violence, including our healthy relationships education programme which aims to equip people with the knowledge to recognise what constitutes a healthy relationship versus an unhealthy relationship.

The Resilience team also co-ordinates the delivery of our peer support groups for Sue Lambert Trust clients. These groups are designed for our clients to cultivate supportive relationships and a sense of belonging within a community, exchange practical tips and strategies to promote healing and engage in meaningful and restorative activity. The groups combine meaningful connection and psychoeducation to support clients to strengthen their resilience in a safe and supportive space.

Why is it important?

Our peer support groups offer our clients an opportunity to feel seen, heard and valued often for the first time in a long time. Sharing experiences with peers can be incredibly impactful and enables clients to build a community, learn from one another as well as installing hope and motivation by being around others progressing in their journey.

Our healthy relationships education work is vital as the primary aim is to reduce and eventually eradicate incidences of sexual violence through education around healthy relationships, consent and understanding the impact of sexual violence. This work also includes raising awareness of Sue Lambert Trust and the support we offer to people who have experienced sexual abuse and sexual violence in Norfolk, ensuring we are meeting the wide range of presenting need as effectively as possible.
