On November 28th, a sunny but wintery morning many of our staff and volunteers headed to Waterloo Park for a staff wellbeing day. It is such a beautiful place in the Centre of Norwich, as you’ll see from the photo.

Waterloo Park

The day started with the lovely Michelle Bappoo, who was welcomed back to host a relaxing yoga and breathwork session, followed by a sound bath where we were immersed with beautiful sounds, relaxed and enjoyed our surroundings.

We were then joined by a fantastic classical guitarist before stopping for an amazing lunch provided by The Feed, who supplied the most divine cakes!

After lunch, some of the team turned their hand to some art; drawing the beautiful view from the window or designing their own totes bags. Others took themselves out for a mindfulness walk around the park, where it was suggested they focus on 5 things they could see, 4 things they could hear, 3 things they could feel.

Martin Fiugra then joined us in the afternoon to read some poems from his book ‘Sixteen Sonnets for Care’, followed by an interesting poetry workshop where the team got the chance to write their own poems and share with one another. Martin very kindly donated some of his poetry book to SLT; thank you Martin.

We ended the day with the much-anticipated wellbeing day quiz, where we found that some of the staff had a secret mastermind talent for capital cities and chocolate bars!

Throughout the day staff had the opportunity to relax with a seated massage and overall, it was a enjoyable day for all to help take the day to day stresses of life away and unwind for a while.

Why not join our team and come along to the next wellbeing day we have vacancies available including always welcoming new counsellors on board. Find out more here
