White Ribbon Day, on 25th November, is annually recognised as a day to take positive action to end violence against women and girls.
Sadly, one in four women in the UK have experienced sexual assault as an adult.
Take a moment to reflect on that number. When you’re working in your office, standing in the queue for your coffee, or sitting on the bus, look around and you’ll start to realise how many people around you, in your daily life, could be dealing with the devastating impact of abuse, often in silence.
At Sue Lambert Trust, we stand with survivors every day, having supported 597 people in 2024 alone – and you can help us tell their story of courage.
White Ribbon Day marks the start of 16 Days of Activism, a global movement where individuals and organisations come together to raise awareness of gender-based violence, and challenge harmful cultures and behaviours that lead to abuse.
Follow Sue Lambert Trust on social media as we tell you the stories behind the numbers, dispel common-held myths about sexual violence, and talk about the support we provide.
We’ll also be sharing practical advice on how you can support survivors who disclose their experience to you, how to volunteer your time to aid our work, and ways to fundraise and donate to ensure we can offer our vital therapeutic services, now and into the future.
In 2024, the National Police Chiefs’ Council outlined the scale of violence against women and girls (VAWG) declaring it a national emergency.
We must continue to act to drive down and eradicate VAWG from our society.
Until that time, Sue Lambert Trust wants to be able to support every adult in Norfolk who has been a victim of sexual abuse or sexual violence, and give survivors access to specialist support, so people can start to heal.
To do that, we need your help.
Please share our social media posts so we can create a community where every survivor is believed, supported and safe.
Follow us on Facebook (/SLTNorfolk) and Instagram (@sue.lambert.trust), and use the hashtags #NoExcuse #ACTtoEndViolence and #16Days to spread the word far and wide.
